Public Schools

Students in Durham attend Durham Public Schools, the eighth largest district in North Carolina. Currently, DPS operates 30 elementary, 10 middle, two secondary, and 12 high schools throughout the city, some of which feature specialized magnet curriculums for high achieving students.

Durham is also close to some of the Triangle's major research institutions, including Duke University, which educates over 14,000 students. North Carolina Central University, a public college, is also located on the southeastern side of town.
